“Shaun Mason is a man without a mission. Not even running the news organization he built with his sister has the same urgency as it used to. Playing with dead things just doesn’t seem as fun when you’ve lost as much as he has.

But when a CDC researcher fakes her own death and appears on his doorstep with a ravenous pack of zombies in tow, Shaun has a newfound interest in life. Because she brings news-he may have put down the monster who attacked them, but the conspiracy is far from dead.

Now, Shaun hits the road to find what truth can be found at the end of a shotgun. : — Goodreads

I read this book far too fast.  Don’t worry, I took notes for my review.  There were just a few things that bothered me (though as I’m reading the third and final book in the series, it kinda makes sense).  I totally called the surprise ending, though I expected that part to happen sooner in the book than later.  And I’m fairly certain I’m in love with Dr. Abbey.  Check back soon with my review…

“Enter a world where nothing is what it seems. Where your closest friend could be your greatest enemy.

Kevin Parson is driving his car late one summer day when, suddenly, his cell phone rings. A man who identifies himself as Slater speaks in a breathy voice: “You have exactly three minutes to confess your sin to the world. Refuse, and the car you’re driving will blow sky high.”

Kevin panics. Who would make such a call? What sin? Kevin ditches the car. Precisely three minutes later, a massive explosion sets his world on a collision course with madness.

From the #1 best-selling fiction author comes a powerful story of good, evil, and all that lies between.” — Goodreads

I found this book at Goodwill for a dollar.  It sounded familiar but didn’t so I grabbed it.  I love suspense thrillers!  Turns out this one is golden! It took me four evenings to finish it (what with work getting in the way of being able to read all day…).  I seriously couldn’t wait to get out of work to finish reading it.  I couldn’t put it down to the point of creating a “Currently Reading” post for it!  Haha.

I thought I had the killer figured out and NOPE! It was even better than I could have imagined!

6/5/2015: I picked up this book as I participate (semi-regularly) in the Evil Book Club of Evil.  Feel free to join in on this one!  We’re pretty loosey-goosey about how we do things in this book club.

Finished Reading: Yes Please

Autobiography; Humor; Non-fiction

yespleasebyamypoehler“In Amy Poehler’s highly anticipated first book, Yes Please, she offers up a big juicy stew of personal stories, funny bits on sex and love and friendship and parenthood and real life advice (some useful, some not so much), like when to be funny and when to be serious. Powered by Amy’s charming and hilarious, biting yet wise voice, Yes Please is a book is full of words to live by.”

5/18/2015: I picked this up for myself for Valentine’s Day… cause even (at the time) single ladies deserve to be treated, even if they have to do it themselves.  This was something I learned from obsessively watching Parks and Rec.  So what better #TreatYoSelf gift than Amy Poehler’s book?!  According to Goodreads, I’m only 16% of the way through at the moment and I’m already jotting down books to read and quotes that hit just right.

I am baaaaaack…

As you may have noticed, I haven’t been very active in my reading these past few months. I apologize profusely for abandoning you!!! College and work took over my life. It was exhausting. I hated not having time to read. Yesterday I took my last final exam for the semester. This means I now have time to get this going again!

I have two book reviews I need to finish and am setting a due date of May 1st for those. Because I’m smart, I did take notes while I read those couple of books and can give you a complete review. 😉

So, in other words: keep an eye out. I have things for you!

Reading Failing… Need to Regroup

I am failing at reading… at least stuff that aren’t my textbooks at the moment.  I have seven textbooks for four classes and probably between 30-50 “articles” to read on top of all of that.  Soooo… I have to return Console Wars to the library.  They only let you renew it so many times, and since it’s a brand new book, I can’t renew it again.  I’ll have to purchase a copy of it in order to be able to finish reading it and write the review!  So glad I took notes of the reading I did do!!

I was thinking of starting a new book I picked up, in honor of the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland: Alice in Zombieland… It’s a YA book, so I imagine that it shouldn’t take me as long to read and not being the size of my head, it’ll be easier to carry and read on the bus…

What do you think?
